How does this course compare to the 40 hour Basic Fingerprint Classification course by the FBI?

The course covers the same material but is delivered in a digital format. We are the only institution that offers this education online.

How long does the course take to complete?

Expect to spend a minimum of 40 hours to complete the course. However the course is self-paced so you can work on it as quickly or slowly as you want, as your free time allows.

How is the course content delivered?

You will be given reading assignments, watch videos, practice sheets and each section has a quiz. At the end of the course is a Final Exam. You will be required to pass the Final Exam with a grade of 70% or higher to complete the course and earn a Certificate of Completion.

Is the course self-paced?

Yes, the course is self-paced. There are no deadlines to meet. This allows you to complete the course according to your own schedule. 

Does access to the course expire?

Yes, you have 1 year from the purchase date to complete the course. If you do not finish the course within that time frame you will be unable to earn a Certificate of Completion and will need to repurchase the course if you wish to complete it.

Can I get assistance if I am having trouble learning a concept in the course?

Yes! We want you to succeed and are willing to provide further explanations and tutoring if you need it. You can always ask a question using the Discussion tab within the course website. We also provide you with an email address to contact the instructor who will reply back within 1-2 business days.

Do I need to buy any equipment?

No, all assignments can be completed online without the need for any extra equipment. However you may find it beneficial to print out some of the assignments and use a magnifying glass when viewing the fingerprint cards.

Do I need to buy any textbooks?

No, all textbooks are provided to you in PDF format. You may, at your own expense, print them out for ease of reading.

Do I need to be a U.S. citizen to enroll?

No, the course is open to anyone in the world with an email address and valid form of payment. All course materials are delivered in English. 

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major debit and credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We accept international debit and credit cards from all countries of the world. 

Do I receive a certification upon completion?

Yes, once you complete the course and final exam with a passing grade of 70% we will email you a high resolution PDF of your Certificate of Completion. You may choose to print your certificate at a local print center such as The UPS Store or FedEx Office. 

Is the course accredited?

No, our course is NOT accredited by any educational institution. This means you cannot earn credits for taking the course and you cannot transfer any credits for taking this course to any educational institution. However we are currently working on accreditation and will update our students when that happens.

Do you guarantee employment with a law enforcement or criminal justice agency after completing the course?

No, we do NOT guarantee employment with any employer, including law enforcement or criminal justice agency, after completing the course. It is up to the employer if they decide to accept or decline your course completion as education or experience towards a potential job position. If in doubt, please contact the agency you wish to work with and ask them if they would accept our course as education or experience.

Do you offer refunds?

No, we do not offer refunds for any reason. Please be sure this is the correct course for you before signing up. I want to offer fingerprint rolling at my place of business, will this course teach me how to roll fingerprints?

The course includes a very brief section on how to roll fingerprints. However this is something that is best learned in person in a hands-on environment. Will this course teach me how to become a CSI?

No. The course will not teach you how to collect evidence taken at the scene of a crime. It does teach you the skills and education needed to work within the Records division of a law enforcement agency dealing with arrestee fingerprint records.

Will this course provide the skills and education needed to work at a Crime Lab?

No. The course will not teach you the skills and education needed to work at a Crime Lab. The majority of positions that work at a Crime Lab require a four year Bachelor degree in a physical science, such as chemistry, biology or forensic science.
